Life in Honduras
One in four people live in extreme poverty. Violent gangs terrorise the cities and wars dominate the mountains, bringing fear and misery. There are currently 247,000 displaced people in Honduras due to violence, extortion, threats, and forced recruitment by urban gangs. It is a known drug and narcotic smuggling point.
Many live in constant fear of attack from hungry, desperate neighbours.
Government corruption and money laundering are major issues. Yet in this dangerous environment, local churches distribute food, friendships grow and people come to know Christ.

Children coming to school
Life in the Honduran mountains is hard. Mountainous terrain makes travel difficult, so supplies for daily life are limited. Getting food to one of the most remote regions on earth is especially challenging… carrying heavy sacks of food up a mountain where there are no roads.
Food is desperately needed to keep the people of the Honduran mountains alive. It’s also a way for Jesus Christ to be known by those who have never once heard the Gospel.
When the missionaries first arrived and opened schools, children came for a day or two but couldn’t continue due to hunger. When they began giving out daily meals provided by Feed The Hungry, the children started coming five days a week. Soon parents came, friendships developed and the Gospel began to take root.
