In 1987 Dr Lester Sumrall had a midnight encounter with Jesus Christ who challenged him with these words:
“I am very concerned that my church… my children, are dying of hunger before I return and I want you to do something about it.”
In response to the challenge, 73-year-old Dr Sumrall dedicated his remaining days (1913-1996) to a threefold vision of feeding the hungry, building the church and reaching the lost. Founded by Dr Sumrall in 1987, LeSEA GLOBAL FEED THE HUNGRY has conducted operations in almost 90 countries around the world since it began.
Feed The Hungry directly oversees the entire relief process to make sure contributions get into the hands of those who need it most—when they need it most. Before distributing food, we secure guarantees from government agencies, giving us the right to distribute food directly through local churches who know the people—and the need—in their communities.
Under our direction and leadership, food is distributed as intended. Even more importantly, Christ is shared with hurting people who need to hear of His love! When you give to Feed The Hungry, you’re doing more than just giving food. You’re giving a brand-new hope and the promise of a future.
Our Mission is simple but life-changing.
→ Answer cries of the poor who literally pray “Our Father who art in heaven… give us today our daily bread…” because they do not know where their next meal is coming from.
→ Follow Christ’s calling to fulfill the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people in crisis. Through financial and prayer support like yours, we deliver food and supplies using a pastor-to-pastor, church-to-church strategy.
→ Provide meals freely to the communities we serve without discrimination and regardless of a person’s race, ethnicity, indigenous origin, minority status or disability. The opportunity to receive a Full Life is available to all people regardless of background, social status, or how they identify themselves (such as religious beliefs, gender identity or sexual orientation).
→ Exist so others may live a full life free from hunger. Free from fearing their children may starve. Free in the knowledge their life matters, and that despite what life may bring, we can all hope for a better tomorrow. So that others may live, and live life to the full!
The Full Life Program
Providing a daily meal in a school environment, the Full Life Program encourages education so children have the tools necessary to escape the poverty cycle. Over 626,903 children in 23 countries are fed everyday through the Full Life Program (December 2024).
What does a Full Life Partnership provide?

For children living day to day in extreme poverty, education helps break the poverty cycle. It means Feed The Hungry provides food and a future. For every child who has ever dreamt of having a future… to know they can live a full life because they’ve had an education—it feels good.

Feed The Hungry ensures that children who receive food hear the gospel message. It’s giving children every chance to genuinely live in the fullness of life through Jesus. For every child who’s lived with fear, to have new hope and peace by knowing Jesus—it feels good.
