But He answered n said to them, “You give them something to eat.”
Mark 6:37

This year marks 22 years since I joined Feed The Hungry Australia. One of the blessings of our ministry has been stability—not only in leadership, but among the team that serves alongside me. The people I work with are not simply employees; they are fellow labourers who have chosen to carry this burden together over many years.

Some years ago, a consultant sat with the senior leadership of Feed The Hungry and later remarked that we all shared a relentless drive in our work. I think that is because the vision of Feed The Hungry cuts us to the heart. When Jesus woke our founder, Dr. Lester Sumrall, in the middle of the night, He said:

“I am very concerned that My church, My children are dying of hunger… and I want you to do something about it.”

We have all taken that holy calling as both a burden and a responsibility. We know we cannot do everything, but I confess that I often try to do everything humanly possible—and occasionally what seems inhumanly possible too.

That is why I am so grateful for the team that has gathered around me and chosen to carry part of that burden.

Together, we successfully brought to completion our three-year partnership with Christian Media here in Australia, and I want to publicly acknowledge the people who made that possible.

When I was hired in 2004, it was a part-time role by necessity. Five years later, growth enabled us to welcome Maxine to the team. She covers every action, strategy, and trip—and most importantly our partners—in prayer that flows from the Father’s heart.

As the ministry continued to grow, the Board recognised that additional support was needed, and in 2019 Silvia joined the full-time team. She brings a gentle pursuit of excellence to every detail and a grace for engaging with organisations that extends far beyond my own abilities.

When the national radio partnership opportunity emerged, Lauryn joined us in 2022 to help bring order and direction to a rapidly expanding ministry. With great skill, she takes my field reports and faithfully communicates the stories of children whose lives have been changed.

Most recently, Sebastian joined us in 2024 and helped bring the final year of our three-year partnership to a successful conclusion. He lightened my administrative load, quarterbacked considerable technical logistics, and made it possible for me to spend more time in the field.

Without their teamwork, dedication, and willingness to serve, I doubt we would have come anywhere near providing 10 million meals to hungry refugees in Uganda through Take Away Hunger Day.

On behalf of Isaac, Angok, Priscilla, and the hundreds of thousands of children around the world who were fed because of your work, may I simply say:

Thank you, Maxine.
Thank you, Silvia.
Thank you, Lauryn.
Thank you, Sebastian
