Imagine raising your family in a country where half the population live below the poverty line and children are fortunate to complete primary school. Violent gangs terrorise the cities and war dominates the mountains, leaving families in constant fear.

This is the harsh reality of daily life in Honduras. Yet the most pressing need is for food. Thousands of people scavenge in garbage dumps to earn enough for a daily meal. You can smell the garbage dumps before you see them. As you get closer, you notice people scavenging for scraps to sell, just for a few bites of food. Then you realise… many of them are children.

Thousands of children in Honduras work in these dumps. It’s no kind of life, especially for a child. They get hurt or sick from the filth and disease. Many children fall victim to gangs who exploit and abuse them. We estimate 70-80% of children have been sexually trafficked.

When missionaries arrived and opened schools, children came for a day or two but couldn’t continue due to hunger. When daily meals were provided by Feed The Hungry, children came to school every day. Instead of scouring the dump, children came for their meal, stayed and learned to read, write and grow spiritually. Soon parents came, friendships developed and the Gospel began to take root.

It costs so little to help children grow up safe and happy. Thanks to your provision of food every day, they can escape the horrors of the garbage dump and live good, full lives.

Your gifts to feed the children help set them free from hunger and abuse. With your help, they grow strong, get an education and learn about Jesus Thank you for helping us make a lasting, life-changing difference for these children.
