Feeding dreams and futures in Uganda

Isaac is 16, a bright student in the Kiryandongo refugee settlement. He dreams of one day becoming a doctor. It’s a dream born from hardship – because Isaac’s life has already been marked with pain no child should have to bear.
Violence forced Isaac and his family from their home in South Sudan. He lost his mother under heartbreaking circumstances and was left in the care of his grandmother, uncle, and cousins. When you hear Isaac talk about his hope – to help others and save lives – you realise just how powerful your support is in helping his dreams to survive.
Isaac’s home is close to his school – but those familiar with his family’s situation know it is often empty of food, and that his siblings and cousins sometimes go days without eating. Isaac says, “There are times when I feel like dying – because a human being cannot stay without eating and stay alive. That is impossible.”
Your support makes it possible for Isaac to attend school and get a hot, nourishing meal each day, but your generosity does so much more. At school Isaac receives more than a lifesaving meal, he receives the chance to concentrate in class, to laugh with friends and to work towards his dream of becoming a doctor. When asked what he enjoys at school, Isaac is quick to answer – mathematics and football.
Your giving, through Feed The Hungry, is always focused in partnership with the local church, making sure that food gets to those who need it most. It also means that, as children receive meals, they also hear about the God who loves them – offering spiritual food alongside physical nourishment.
Isaac’s story is repeated thousands of times, across Uganda and around the world. And your support is providing hope – not only for today – but for a future. As one community leader shared, “The hope that Isaac, and so many like him have, is truly coming to school and receiving that daily meal. Without food, what else is there for Isaac?”
Isaac himself wants you to know he is grateful: “I’m so happy you are giving me food – thank you so much. May God bless you.”
Your support is making a tremendous difference – Thank you for being a vital part of this life-changing work. You’re the reason a young boy named Isaac can keep dreaming of a brighter future.
