For hungry children, choosing between food and school isn’t really a choice. Empty stomachs aren’t thinking about the future; they’re focused on the next meal. Choosing food over education may make sense today, but it traps children in a cycle of poverty.
The good news is, schools in Australia can partner with Feed The Hungry to interrupt the poverty cycle. This can be done simply by providing meals at school to refugee children in Africa. So with a reason to come to school, and with full bellies, these children are ready to learn – to receive and education and change their futures.
Lack of food is not the issue, but transporting the food to where it’s needed most.
Did you know just one gold coin donation will deliver five school lunches for a hungry refugee child in Uganda?
We’ve come up with some suggestions for how your school could support these children by providing their daily meal at school. If every family in your school was to give a gold coin donation, just think how many children could be fed!

Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for close to 30% of all out-of-school children globally. One out of five African children are not attending school. Feed The Hungry’s school feeding programs provide daily nutritious meals, helping children stay in school, learn, and build a better future.
