Ukraine: Lifting those up who have lost so much
Easter is a time of renewal and a reminder of God’s love and faithfulness. But in Ukraine, many continue to face hardship, hunger and the lasting impacts of war. The conflict has left towns in ruin, displaced countless families and left the most vulnerable fighting to survive.
In a small village near Kherson, an elderly woman named Iryna spent weeks hiding in her basement while tanks and gunfire tore through her town. When she finally emerged, her home was barely standing. The roof was gone, her furniture shattered and her belongings stolen. Her frail dog was the only familiar thing left. With no help, Iryna patched up the walls with her own hands and held onto her faith as food became harder and harder to find.
Stories like Iryna’s are sadly far too common. In villages where grocery stores no longer exist, and in homes where the elderly and disabled have no way to access food, your support is delivering real help.
In 2024, Australian donors helped send 14 large containers of fortified rice meals and aid to Ukraine, providing nearly four million meals. But the need today is still urgent. The conflict continues, and hunger remains a daily reality for many. Families are still being displaced, churches are still caring for the forgotten and food remains scarce across many regions.
In Studenytsia, elderly residents rely on food packs from the local church. In Kharkiv and Kherson, families with children and widows are supported through aid distributions. In Odesa, homebound seniors receive food delivered straight to their doors. And in Krymina, displaced families who lost everything are receiving food, medicine and hygiene supplies to help them rebuild.
With your help, we can continue reaching those who need it most with food, care and the love of Christ.
For just $20, you can feed someone like Iryna for an entire month. Please donate today.
