We’re in the midst of the worst refugee crisis of our generation. Thousands of men, women, and children have been torn from their homes, families, and livelihoods—not by their own doing, but by conflicts over which they have no control.

Now, they find themselves lost and broken in an unfamiliar place. Their future isn’t certain—but thanks to your support, many refugees know where their next meal will come from.

There are an estimated 482,569 people of concern in Uganda*. And because of friends like you, we’re already serving meals to 20,000 children in Uganda each day. That means each morning, these children wake up knowing someone cares about them. In addition to getting a full belly, each meal is a source of hope and stability!

In the midst of the fear and uncertainty in the life of a refugee, that’s everything—as it is for this brother and sister benefiting from your generosity. 11-year-old Gloria and 13-year-old Datluak, Sudanese refugees in Uganda.

When Feed The Hungry first came in contact with Gloria, she had no reliable source of nutrition and wasn’t getting an education. Now, she enjoys both. We connected Gloria with her school, where she accepted Jesus and is learning the value of hard work. “My life has changed,” says Gloria, “because I’m being fed.”

After their father was killed, Datluak fled to Uganda with his uncle. They traveled for a month before reaching the refugee camp that Feed The Hungry serves in Kiryandongo.

Now in 4th grade, Datluak enjoys studying and dreams of becoming a doctor one day. He believes that Jesus is his Savior and prays for His grace. He also prays for his mother who is still in Sudan.

Feed The Hungry’s East Africa director, Pastor Solomon (see interview on page 2), reports increasing numbers of refugees are pouring into Uganda’s camps—which means more empty bellies. That’s why we’re aiming to feed 7,000 more children every day through the end of the year.

Please pray for the refugee crisis in Uganda, especially for the children being impacted. And please pray that Feed The Hungry meets its $126,000 goal so we can show even more children that a full life feels good!
