Our partnership with Zambia is pretty new. We began working with African Vision of Hope earlier this year (2020) and they received their first container in May.
Due to COVID they have yet to have their feeding programs running at full capacity. However, grades 9-12 have been meeting since June 1. Once things are running normal, AVOH will work in 5 schools feeding 3,099 students daily. They will also be feeding children every Saturday at their 6 “Sunshine Kid’s Club” locations.
We are thankful to report that although schools and churches have not been fully opened, that has not stopped the team from ministering to those in need.
The team has been ministering to many families in need by handing out dry rations as well as Red Letter Gospels. They shared that the costs for things needed to cook
the MP such as water and coal, have doubled. This has caused Zambians to be even tighter with their daily spending. AVOH is targeting about 20 families who are desperately in need.
These families are eating MP daily and for some it is their only meal. AVOH is also providing food for elderly women, seminary students/pastors, and college students who are
orphans, needing both food and shelter. The team shared with us that this food could not have come at a better time.
Although the distribution is not how we typically operate, our team in Zambia has been able to increase our reach to these vulnerable communities. They are truly showing people what it means to be the hands and feed of Christ
