2016 Feeding Challenge - Feed The Hungry

Join us to reach hungry children in Southern Africa!

As you know, this year we focused on feeding the world’s hungriest children as part of our 2016 Feeding Challenge. It’s simply vital that we help children like Francis and Rose in Malawi.

Life’s been unspeakably hard for these two young teenagers. Since their parents died from HIV/AIDS two years ago, they have shouldered the responsibility of caring for their younger siblings – Manuel, age 10, and Sabrina, age 6.

Francis and Rose do all they can to grow food for the family on their small patch of land, but the soil is poor and the rains are failing. Francis tells us he and his brother and sisters struggle to concentrate in school as gnawing hunger distracts them from their studies. Often, all four of them go to bed hungry.

Joseph, 16, tells a similar story. Along with his two sisters and brother, Joseph recently fled the fighting in South Sudan to seek refuge in Uganda.

The children haven’t seen their parents since the outbreak of the civil war. They don’t even know if they’re still alive. Yet Joseph still clings to hope for the future. He wants to train to be a doctor to help others who’ve been affected by the unrest and fighting.

But hunger often keeps him from concentrating in class. “If the food is not there, we cannot manage to pay attention,” Joseph explains. “When I’ve not eaten since sunset the night before, I find I can’t concentrate when my teacher is explaining things to me.”

Thanks to friends like you, Joseph, Francis and Rose – along with all their siblings – now know what a full life feels like. Through our EveryChild EveryDay program, these kids now have enough to eat each day… and life is looking brighter.

But there are so many still waiting. That’s why it’s so vital that we press on. We must reach desperate children before it’s too late. With your support, we will bring them food and the Good News of Jesus – hope for today and for eternity!
