Population:         16,407,000

Language:            Chichewa and English

Main religion:    Christian, with a significant Muslim minority

Poverty:                Over 40% of people live on less than $1 per day

Most people in Malawi rely on agriculture for their income, but they are hard-hit by the extreme weather – the tinder-dry seasons can lead to devastating fires, and flooding often drowns the crops.

Acute food shortage has led to around 47 per cent of children under age five suffering from stunted growth largely caused by malnutrition, which can lead to impaired brain and motor development. Around 4 per cent of kids under five suffer from wasting – being so low in weight that it can lead to their mortality. Many kids are HIV orphans.

To help kids live the full life Jesus intends for them, we’re feeding close to 3,260 children through our Every Child Every Day feeding program.

Please pray:

  • For Malawian children in our Every Child Every Day feeding program to find that Jesus is the way to knowing a full life
  • For the HIV orphans in this program to know their heavenly Father cares for them
  • As we show God’s love to adults in Malawi, where 1 in 10 suffer from HIV/AIDS
