At the outbreak of war, Michael and his family fled South Sudan for a refugee camp in Uganda. They travelled on foot through the bush to avoid soldiers on the main roads.

The upheaval in his homeland left quite an impression on Michael, and is one of the reasons he’s so grateful for the opportunity to attend school in the refugee camp.

He shared with us…

“What I like about coming to school is, if I come here and learn, then later I can become the President and save our people from the war.”

Unfortunately, many kids like Michael who would otherwise enjoy getting a good education simply can’t attend because they’re so hungry. As Michael says…

“If there is no food, some people would not come… because if they come to school and are hungry, they will not be attentive.But thanks to your support, Michael and his siblings can get a good education because they know they have a dependable supply of nutritious meals at school.
