Free Them from the Dump - Feed The Hungry

These children are searching the Rivas garbage dump outside of Managua, the capital of Nicaragua.

They are looking for cans, plastic bottles, metal, clothing… anything of value they can sell for food. It’s an awful place… burning all the time and letting off toxic smoke. But the children keep coming. It’s the best way they know to earn money for food. Even though they work harder each year, the value of cans and recyclables keeps falling. School is out of the picture for them and will remain so, unless someone like you comes along.

Will a simple meal make such a difference? Manuel knows it will. Ever since he was a toddler, he earned his food from scrounging through a Nicaraguan garbage dump for scraps to sell. He believed he was no more valuable than the garbage he dug through day after day.

Then he met Feed The Hungry, who provided his daily food, freeing him to go to school. He was able to go to a three day Christian camp. At the end of the camp he said, “God removed the lie that I am worthless. Now I feel and know that I am worth more than anything to God.”
