Food and the Hope of a Future

This is Esther.

Her story is one of great sadness turned to hope.

Esther is 14 and came from South Sudan into Uganda seeking refuge.

Her family fled the war in South Sudan. While they were running for their lives they encountered rebels on the road, sadly her father was captured and while being beaten, told his family to run for their lives and not to worry about him. He was shot and killed.

In the chaos Esther was separated from her mother, and up till now has no idea what has happened to her.

After reaching a refugee camp in Uganda, along with her uncle and aunt, they were given a few supplies to build a place to live.

Esther tells us that the government provides food but it is never enough.

That’s where Feed The Hungry and you come into the picture.

Esther says the meal she receives at school from Feed The Hungry is changing her life. It keeps her satisfied and she’s able to concentrate in class. Which she says will lead to a good future! Her dream is to become a member of parliament, so she can help others and her country one day.
