Peter Sumrall (above) challenged us to help send three containers of highly nutritious dehydrated soup mix to rural Cambodia, as part of a coordinated outreach initiated by Joyce Meyer Ministries.
With your generous support, we were not only able to meet this challenge but send a fourth container of food. Thank you partners and friends.
For this particular outreach we once again teamed up with our good friends Ps. Billy-Joe & Sharon Daugherty to hold a large open-air crusade and pastoral training meetings. Many young pastors from the local region attended.
Giant billboards and flyers were distributed among the people, and the local soccer field was booked to hold the crusade. Free books from Joyce Meyer, translated into Cambodian were given to people who attended (like the joyous man above).
Local pastors and elders were hoping that they could attract 4,000 people to the crusade, and they were totally amazed when over 20,000 were present for the first night.
Certain ministry restrictions prevented large-scale alter-calls and overt demonstrations of God’s miraculous power – but God has ways to work around it. Such as the final night when two guys in the audience came up to me asking to know Jesus. After connecting them with a local pastor and giving them free books, the Pastor and I prayed for them and led them to the Lord.
Part of the successful evangelical model from the Daugherty’s is to take small Youth teams to the villages to conduct dramas, share the Gospel and generally have fun with the children.
Bringing high energy, beautiful smiles, and a Godly lack of restraint and self-consciousness these veteran teen-aged missionaries broke down cultural and language barriers with a series of simple ice-breaker games and good-natured nonsense. Soon, both children and their parents were relaxed and receive the simple message of Christ.
While the Youth team ministered to the Children, Cambodian youth from Phnom Penh began cooking the food. This was made possible with thanks to the generous support of US ministry Feed My Starving Children who donated the dehydrated rice meals for the Cambodian people.
thank you!
Gifts of just $12 helped send 227 meals to Cambodia!
