Many children in Tondo are orphans or come from homes where at least one parent is unemployed. Even the parents who do work only earn around $260 a month. One school teacher told us, “Food is very important for the kids. With a meal, they can easily concentrate. But often they don’t come to school if they haven’t eaten because they have no energy.”
Starting this month, we want to offer 1,000 hungry children at least one nutritious, hot meal every day at school. However the needs are so great among the children that we need to reach 10,000 as soon as possible.
