A word from our President

Dear Partners,

For more than 25 years, LeSEA Global Feed The Hungry has delivered help and hope to suffering people worldwide.

It seems like just yesterday when my dad, Dr. Lester Sumrall, received the inspiration to start Feed The Hungry while leading a tour to Israel. From that November night in Jerusalem in 1987 until today we have pushed forward to reach out to people around the world who have been caught in the grip of poverty, war, and natural disaster.

Working hand-in-hand with local churches in over ninety nations has proven to be the most efficient and effective way to get things done-· after all, who knows the needs of a village or city better than local ministries of compassion that live and work right within that community. And it’s helped us keep overhead at a minimum … in 2010, ninety-three cents of every dollar went
directly to help people in need.

Without the prayers and support of our partners we simply could not do what we do. Today over fifty-five thousand children in places like Nicaragua, Romania, and Uganda are receiving a hot meal because someone just like you decided to make hunger history. To see the faces of the kids when they receive their only meal of the day is amazing. To see them in school, learning
and dreaming of what they can grow up to be is a blessing too big for words.

Biography

Peter Andrew Sumrall has a rich legacy of missions and ministry. Born on the mission field in 1953 Peter became the youngest son of world evangelists Dr. Lester Sumrall and Louise Sumrall. His parents were raising up a church in Manila, Philippines. Being the son of missionaries, Peter’s upbringing was always focused on the goal of winning lost souls for Christ. His formal education took him to schools in Manila, Hong Kong, Jerusalem and South Bend, IN. After attending classes at Bethel College, Peter travelled in the early 1970’s with the group Living Sound throughout Asia. He returned to work full time for his father and LeSEA Ministries in 1973. Pete worked exclusively for the broadcasting division for 9 years working in almost every aspect of the business.

In 1982, Peter was named general manager and in 1997 named COO of LeSEA Broadcasting. Through the years of his leadership, LeSEA Broadcasting has grown to be able to own and operate thirteen television stations, and three FM radio stations, five high powered, international short wave radio stations, two satellite channels covering all of Africa, Asia and Europe. The flagship channel for the network is World Harvest Television (WHT) and can be seen currently on DirectTV Ch 321.

In 1996, Dr. Sumrall passed away leaving the leadership of the ministry in the hands of his sons. Peter assumed the leadership of LeSEA Ministries and LeSEA Global Feed the Hungry in February of 2005 until his passing in December 2015. All three ministries of LeSEA strive to fulfil Dr. Lester Sumrall’s passion of winning a millions souls to Jesus every day.
